You’ll own the player-facing experiential layer of our next title. The core narrative arc and world-building pillars are locked; your mission is to turn them into mechanics, verbs, spaces, and feedback loops that make every moment feel tactile, meaningful, and emotionally resonant. Think traversal abilities that embody character growth, puzzles that dramatise or mirror the intended themes or lore, diegetic UI that conveys emotional resonance, and encounters that teach combat through mood as much as numbers.

    Key Responsibilities

    Emotion-to-Mechanic Translation

    • Break down themes, moods, and story beats into concrete game systems, per-level lore, game feel, interactions, and all things that touch user experience (sound, art, animation, ui, etc).

    Self-Starter

    • Compile, present, and iterate on prototype ideas and assets to support worldbuilding, asset building, sound design and production.

    Environmental Storytelling

    • Collaborate with level artists to embed narrative clues—sight-lines, prop placement, ambient audio—that reward exploration and reinforce story. Every zone should tell a backstory designed by you.

    Moment-to-Moment Design

    • Author combat arenas, traversal challenges, puzzles, and set-pieces that escalate tension and release in sync with the narrative spine.

    Documentation & Communication

    • Maintain clear, version-controlled design docs, flowcharts, and annotated videos that any teammate can pick up and run with on every aspect of the game. Manage and control the GDD alongside the Creative Director.

    Cross-Disciplinary Partnership

    • Sync daily with writers, programmers, audio, and UX to ensure mechanics, tone, and pacing form a seamless player experience.

    Playtest-Driven Tuning

    • Conduct and manage QA systems and game testing soliciting feedback and compiling it into actionable change.

    • Build instrumentation, define success metrics (retention, emotional beats hit, “aha!” moments), and iterate based on qualitative/quantitative feedback.

    Requirements

    • Substantial evidence or portfolio of experience making detailed game design documents and flowcharts.

    • Portfolio showcasing before/after gameplay clips or prototypes that demonstrate how you turned a narrative or mood brief into play.

    • (Bonus) Basic Unreal Blueprint scripting skills.

    • Strong grasp of game-feel fundamentals, environmental and atmospheric storytelling and user experience strategies.

    • Proven ability to reverse-engineer emotional goals into mechanics without derailing scope.

    • Excellent written and verbal English; able to pitch, defend, and revise ideas succinctly.

    • (Bonus) Familiarity with version-control workflows (Perforce/Git) and collaborative design tools.

  • At present as a fledgling indie studio we do not have the office space or time to support interns, and are opposed to the industry-standard practice of (ab)using numerous interns in a cyclical and disposable fashion. Our intent with all interns is that they are welcomed into the team as staff upon completion of their internship period. Our internship requirements are currently the following:

    1. You must be able to prove a long track record of self-motivated extra-curricular personal devotion to your craft (i.e. a large portfolio of high-quality self-motivated work)

    2. You must be able to work 7:30am-3:30pm weekdays at our Paya Lebar location.

    3. You must be interested in working with us upon graduation or completion of the internship period, and sign an employment contract for future employment at a salary of not more than 3000SGD for your first year.

    4. You must agree to a flat salary of 1000SGD salary for the duration of your internship

    5. Internships should be no shorter than 6 months in length and no longer than 12 months.
